Located in the heart of Hebron, Illinois, Crandall's Restaurant is a beloved destination for fans of classic American comfort food, with a particular emphasis on their world-famous broasted chicken. This charming eatery offers a warm, supper-club ambiance that invites guests to relax and savor hearty meals made with care and tradition.
Crandall’s shines brightest with its signature broasted chicken, renowned across the region for its irresistibly crispy exterior and juicy, tender meat inside. Whether you opt for the "All You Can Eat Chicken and Fish" specials or their popular Broasted Chicken Dinner, dining here is a celebration of familiar, satisfying flavors done to perfection. The generously portioned plates, often delivered steaming hot on large trays, make every bite a delight — as Rebecca Kaatz describes, the breast meat is "juicy and flavorful," showcasing the kitchen’s expert preparation.
Beyond the star chicken dishes, the menu is a treasure trove of American favorites. From prime rib and rib dinners to classic fried fish, liver & onions, and a variety of hearty sandwiches like the Ruben and chicken sandwich, there is something for every palate. The variety extends to their children’s menu, making it a perfect spot for family dining with options such as chicken tenders, cheeseburgers, and "All You Can Eat Broasted Chicken" for younger guests.
One can’t overlook the brilliant Sunday Brunch offering, featuring fresh cinnamon rolls and chef salads that perfectly balance indulgence and freshness. The dessert display is equally tempting, boasting decadent choices like banana cream pie, chocolate cake slice, carrot cake, and the ever-classic lemon meringue pie. Jackie’s comment about the basket of warm dinner rolls being “reason enough to give Crandall’s a try” truly captures the comforting, home-style hospitality permeating every meal.
Crandall’s also accommodates guests who want to enjoy their meals at home with an express To-Go menu that includes broasted chicken by the piece, fish fry combinations, and all-white meat options, making it convenient to indulge in their signature flavors anytime.
More than the food, it’s the entire experience that keeps visitors returning. Friendly, attentive staff consistently enhance the visit, ensuring orders — even large ones like that of Rebecca’s party of eight — arrive just as requested and promptly. Marianne Nyberg puts it best: “So worth the drive for the best broasted chicken in Illinois,” and with Hebron's proximity to Lake Geneva, the meal makes a perfect start or finish to a day of shopping and exploration.
At an excellent value—Victoria Brown highlights the reasonable pricing at $15.99 for chicken or fish and $19.99 for chicken and fish combo—Crandall’s Restaurant offers more than just a meal; it delivers a welcoming experience rooted in good food, generous portions, and genuine Midwestern charm. Whether you’re in for a casual dinner, a special Sunday brunch, or a family outing, Crandall’s promises delicious memories with every visit.
Amazing Broasted Chicken. Many delicious choices but I have the all you can eat chicken dinner or Cod dinner on Wednesday and Friday. I live about 45 minutes away but try to go once every couple of months. It's reasonable at $15.99 for chicken or fish and chicken $19.99.
So worth the drive for the best broasted chicken in Illinois. Plus only 45 mini more and you're in Lake Geneva for an afternoon of shopping. Nice staff, supper club setting.
The best chicken ever!!! We had an amazing waitress who kept all 8 of our orders straight and brought us each exactly the combination of meat and sides that we ordered. What a great team!! Wait till you see the size of the trays they deliver to the tables. The chicken was steaming hot, fresh and delicious. The breast meat was juicy and flavorful. The other cuts were equally delicious, but we were really impressed with the breast meat. The sides were delicious. Our group especially loved the Cole slaw. Best chicken ever!!
The food was fantastic and the service was outstanding! The baket of rolls alone is reason to give Crandall's a try. Loved everything about our first time visit and will definitely be back.
We went when they had their buffet. Lots of food to choose from and it was very good. Their food does not disappoint. And you take home a pot pie to pop in your oven.
Our first time here, and it was amazing. They have a chicken bowl kind of like KFC with corn, gravy, chicken, and mashed potatoes, but way, way better. The mushroom chicken was mouth-watering .They also have a great selection of pies and deserts. The staff was very friendly and attentive. ( Our drinks were never empty ) . Lastly, the restaurant had a very rustic homey feel to it. We will definitely be coming back!
Having just located to the area we were looking for a nice, relaxing dinner spot. We had driven past Crandall’s multiple times on our way to Lake Geneva. After looking for some Gluten-Free options Crandall’s was listed as an option, plus I love chicken and the boast on their sign “World Famous Broasted Chicken”, off to Crandall’s we went. We arrived at an odd time in the middle of the afternoon so it was easy parking and no wait to be seated. I already knew I wanted the Chicken, but my lady is Gluten-Free… this is where we ran into an issue. On the Menu there is a Gluten-Free section with only one option, coconut shrimp. Which may be fantastic by my lady doesn’t enjoy shrimp. However the waitress was understanding and made some other suggestions on what she can get and what they can substitute to make it Gluten Free. She went above and beyond to accommodate my lady. I did order the chicken, because I’m not Gluten Free and I wanted Chicken. Both meals were fantastic. I loved the Chicken, and it is definitely the best that I’ve had since moving to the area. My only issue is that it only comes in All you can Eat, but I didn’t need that much chicken. In fact I didn’t eat all the chicken that came with my first order. The waitress advised that if you get there earlier in the day they do have a two-piece lunch special, but later in the day the only option is all you can eat. We were so full after our meal we weren’t able to try any of the pies they had on display. Next time we’ll have to try one. Overall Crandall’s is a nice little Super Club with good comfort food and a nice rural atmosphere. If you’re in the area, its definitely worth checking out.
